LondonHouse Hotel at 360 North Michigan

TGRWA provided the structural design, working drawings and construction phase services for the conversion of the existing 280,000 square foot Chicago Landmarked “London Guarantee Building” at the corner of Michigan Avenue and Wacker Drive as well as the adjacent new 70,000 square foot, 22-story addition to the existing building. The new hotel includes new retail and restaurant spaces, a hotel lobby and conference center as well as an exterior rooftop terrace and bar. The renovation includes structural upgrading of the existing steel structure to accommodate new loading and openings. The 22-story addition is a steel framed structure supported by new belled concrete caissons. One of the key structural elements are the major transfer girders over the 3rd floor conference room to accommodate a fully column free space.
