TGRWA Projects – The National

One of several recent renovation projects that TGRWA has designed in the Loop of Chicago is continuing to make headlines. The National, located at 125 Clark Street, was featured in Curbed.com to discuss the work required to update the large 20-story building into the mixed-use space it is today.

Lost gem by Daniel Burnham & Co. gets second life in Chicago Loop

As a landmark structure originally designed by famed architect Daniel Burnham in 1907, the article discusses the slow deterioration that occurred over its 109-year life and some of the necessary repairs that took place. A highlight includes the renovation of the interior light well for use as an outdoor gathering space. This area, as well as numerous more throughout the building, required reinforcement of the structure designed by TGRWA.

Joined by TGRWA on the design team was HBRA Architects, the project’s Architect of Record. Blue Star Properties is the Owner.
