AMC Oakbrook 12 and The Oakbrook Center “Theater Connection” Nearing Completion

TGRWA is pleased to announce another project nearing completion. The multi-phase project in Oak Brook, IL includes a new 260,000 square-foot theater/parking garage mixed-used structure and extensive renovation of the existing mall building. Both phases are set to finish later this fall. Steel framing was used for both the gravity and lateral design of the 1,429-seat theater, which was then supported by the precast 503-car parking garage below. The foundations were spread footings bearing on soil improved with rammed aggregate piers. For the renovation phase, a myriad of stages were completed, including: reinforcement of the existing structure, new large openings through the existing post-tensioned slab, replacement of several deteriorated pedestrian bridges, and two new steel-framed additions.

Omniplan served as the Architect of Record, the General Contractor was Graycor Construction, and the Owner is GGP.
