TGRWA Projects – Hotel Julian Under Construction

New steel is rising again in the Chicago Loop thanks to a TGRWA design. The renovation of the existing 13-story building at 168 N. Michigan Ave., to be opened in the near future as a hotel, is highlighted by the addition of six new steel-framed levels. Extensive structural work inside of the existing portion allowed the 105 year old building to support the gravity and lateral forces from the new addition. This included supplementing the existing lateral system for the increased loading and working closely with the general contractor to provide structural solutions for the quandary caused by erecting steel at such a tight and busy location. With impressive views of Millennium Park and Lake Michigan, as well as the prime location near the Magnificent Mile, TGRWA is proud to add Hotel Julian to its lists of renovations along this well-known stretch of Michigan Avenue.

Oxford Capital is the Owner, Hirsch Associates is the Architect of Record, and W.E. O’Neil is the general contractor.
